Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej and is now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 during an Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi was later Romanian gymnastics coach, discovered Comaneci at just 6 years old. The first time she competed at the national junior championships 1969, finishing 13th. She did well in the 1970 competition. In 1972, as part of the communist nations' meet for juniors prior to the Olympic Games, she won three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974, she won the junior champion in all aspects. Her first competitive event as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do a backward double salto as dismounting off the unbalanced parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens, she began performing in travel shows like Ice Capades as a skater as well as her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol was a part of the entertainment industry during her teens. As a young girl she began her journey as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling show called Ice Capades. They had ice-skating performances that included staged performances.
