Gerina Stevenson is a native of Mexico and was the child of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. She is of Mexican-American heritage and is an American of the nationality. Her entire life has been an avid sportsperson. Gerina began playing golf at the age of fifteen. Gerina went to Goddard High School. The school won this year's New Mexico State Golf Tournament during her senior year of high school. As well as her volleyball game, she participated on the state level. The year 2003 was the time she entered the University of Texas. The school won every one of the tournaments she played in during her senior year. During the undergraduate seasons, she won Conference USA's individual player of season and UTEP's Female Athletic of the Year.
